Cedar Rapids Skyhawks Receive AMA Recognition and Reward Grant

The Cedar Rapids Skyhawks recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in Marion, IA. The club held their Warbirds over Iowa event on July 20th, 2019. The event had scale military aircrafts and it was free for the public to watch. The event also worked and paired with Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, that works with veterans. Eastern Iowa Honor Flight accepted donations at the event as well.

The Tinley Creek RC Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $75. The club is located in Palos Heights, IL. The club will be hosting their annual Remote Control Helicopter Fun Fly on August 3. The event will be from 9am to dusk and will be held at the AMA field located at 19498 S Cicero Ave, Matteson.  The Fun Fly will include raffles and will feature local professional RC helicopter pilots. They will also have members doing plane and helicopter demos. To get into this event, registrants must have their AMA cards.

The Owatonna RC Modelers recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $150. The club is located in Owatonna, MN. The club hosted their Fun Fly on their 8 acres of land that was donated by the previous owners in 1986. Different clubs from around the area were invited to bring whatever RC planes they wanted to and have fun. The club offered free hot dogs and beans in exchange for a free-will donation. El Paso Radio Controllers Receive AMA Recognition and Reward Grant

The El Paso Radio Controllers recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in El Paso, TX. The club hosted a fundraiser for The Armed Services YMCA on June 30th, 2019. This event tried to peak the interest of younger generations and tried to get them interested in the hobby.

The Susquehanna Valley Modelers recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $75. The club is located in Melton, PA. The club hosted the fly-in to allow its members a chance to fly together and invite the public to learn what modeling is all about. 20 pilots attended the event to show their support and fly. The planes flown were made out of a range of different materials from plywood and balsa to foam. THey ranged with wingspans of a couple of feet to up to 12 feet. This event wasn't just like any other event, however.

The Lincoln Sky Knights RC Club sponsored the AMA TAG (Takeoff And Grow) event on June 8. Participants were able to fly using computer simulators and buddy-box trainer systems, and they were also able to get to know each other and talk about the hobby and different types of aircrafts. The event allowed people looking to try model aeronautics for the first time the perfect place to do that.

The River City Radio Controllers recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $100. The club is located in Louisville, KY. The 19th annual Wings for Kids Radio Controlled Air Show benefited the Norton Children's Hospital. The air show happened on Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd at the Bill Fluke Airfield at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. Visitors saw exciting flying exhibitions including in-air dogfights and combat, aerobatic airplanes and vintage airplanes. The air show also featured nationally recognized pilots throughout the Midwest and beyond.

Capital Area Radio Drone Squadron Receives AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant

The Capital Area Radio Drone Squadron (CARDS) recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in Grand Ledge, MI. The Capital Area Radio Drone Squadron hosted an airshow from June 6-8, 2019 from 9am to 5pm. The event featured more than 100 scale planes from aviation history.

 

The Capital Area Radio Drone Squadron (CARDS) recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in Grand Ledge, MI. The Capital Area Radio Drone Squadron hosted an airshow from June 6-8, 2019 from 9am to 5pm. The event featured more than 100 scale planes from aviation history. The planes were available for static viewing, as well as in air at the field.  Many of the planes had an 8 to 10 foot wing span, with some being even larger.This air show was the season opener for the Giant Scale Warbirds and Classics Alliance, which holds similar shows throughout the midwest. In the year 2020, CARDS will honor the RC hobby by celebrating its 50th anniversary as a club of enthusiasts dedicated the hobby. The Fort Bend Radio Control Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $100. The club is located in Sugar Land, TX. The Fort Bend RC Club teamed up with the the Fort Bend Animal Services and Fort Bend PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving)  for an event called PAWS and Planes on Saturday, June 15th for a high-flying fundraising adventure. The event was held at the club's airfield from 11am to 2pm. The event included model airplanes in action, adoptable dogs, classic cars, refreshments and a raffle. All proceeds from the event were donated to the Fort Bend PAWS.
