On Saturday, August 9, 2025, AMA Foundation Executive Director Steve Haston spent a majority of his day at the International Aeromodeling Center (IAC) attending the 2025 FAI F3A World Championships for Aerobatic Model Aircraft Opening Ceremony and the International Radio Controlled Helicopter Association (IRCHA) Jamboree.
The 2025 FAI F3A World Championships will run through August 16 in Muncie, Indiana, while the IRCHA Jamboree concluded on Sunday, August 10. Interested spectators can watch World Championships competitors fly at Sites 1 and 3 of the IAC.
Steve stated that, during his time at the IAC on Saturday, "the grounds were full of IRCHA and NSRCA competitors, spectators, and vendors." Both events bring in a multitude of world class competitors, and we're thrilled to have them display their talent on AMA property.
During his visit to the IRCHA Jamboree, Steve noted that "the flightline was over a half mile long, or about 2,500 feet, and it was full of wall-to-wall tents, RVs, helicopters, and hundreds of AMA members—now that is what I call a community!" He continued, stating the following: "I was able to meet with many old friends and make some new ones. Talk about amazing helicopter flying ... it was happening all over the place! Yes, just like many of you, I could not help myself. I purchased a new plane and placed an order for a new helicopter. Don't tell my wife!"

After visiting IRCHA pilots, Steve "landed (bad pun) at Site 1 for the 2025 FAI F3A World Championships Opening Ceremony." With 20-plus countries in attendance, the atmosphere was full of vibrant conversations, newly forged friendships, and a wonderful feeling of friendly competition and camaraderie. Steve stated that he "had the privilege of talking with most of the 23 countries participating," and noted that "there was excitement and joy in everyone. The teams all lined up, and there was a parade of countries with their flags held high, while cheers and clapping filled the air. It was super exciting."

We at the AMA Foundation are looking forward to witnessing the great competition that the World Championships is sure to bring. Good luck to all of our competitors!
