On August 1, 2026, AMA Foundation staff attended the local Fire Up DWNTWN event in downtown Muncie, Indiana. The fifth annual festival, thousands of community members came together to enjoy local food, entertainment, music, and art.
Again this year, the AMA Foundation brought the AMA Model Aviation Experience simulation trailer to the event, allowing event attendees of all ages to try their hand at model aviation. In addition to the simulation trailer, staff manned an informational booth, where member guides and educational pamphlets were up for grabs and static models were on display.
With hundreds of attendees making their way through the simulation trailer, AMA Foundation staff had a wonderful time watching them experience their first flights. Everyone did an incredible job!
AMA Foundation Executive Director Steve Haston even flew his drone for a bit, taking photos from a birds-eye view and giving spectators a first-hand glimpse at flying.
The AMA Foundation extends its thanks to DWNTWN Muncie for the opportunity to get involved and share our hobby with our community neighbors. Additional thanks are extended to AMA staff members for volunteering to assist with the trailer throughout the event's duration. We are already looking forward to attending next year's Fire Up DWNTWN event!
