Stonecrest RC Flyers Receive AMA Recognition and Reward Grant

The Stonecrest RC Flyers recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $125. The club is located in Prestonsburg, KY. The club recently hosted their Fun Fly, their biggest event of the year. The event was filled with food, fun, fellowship, and a lot remote controlled aircrafts. The club donated a portion of the proceeds to their local veterans group. Those who were at the event had the opportunity to learn about the hobby and even how to fly and operate radio controlled airplanes and helicopters.

The Kootenai RC Flyers recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $75. The club is located in Libby, MT. The club hosted their annual Fun Fly on Saturday, July 13th. The event was a good opportunity for experienced and inexperienced pilots to get together, learn, and have fun. They wanted the event to be a fun family-friendly atmosphere and allow everyone to enjoy some time outdoors watching RC planes. The club has 18 members ranging in ages from 5 to 80. The AMA Club Recognition and Reward Program was established to encourage clubs to promote model aviation.

The Tinley Creek RC Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $75. The club is located in Palos Heights, IL. The club will be hosting their annual Remote Control Helicopter Fun Fly on August 3. The event will be from 9am to dusk and will be held at the AMA field located at 19498 S Cicero Ave, Matteson.  The Fun Fly will include raffles and will feature local professional RC helicopter pilots. They will also have members doing plane and helicopter demos. To get into this event, registrants must have their AMA cards.

The Owatonna RC Modelers recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $150. The club is located in Owatonna, MN. The club hosted their Fun Fly on their 8 acres of land that was donated by the previous owners in 1986. Different clubs from around the area were invited to bring whatever RC planes they wanted to and have fun. The club offered free hot dogs and beans in exchange for a free-will donation. The club hosted their Fun Fly on their 8 acres of land that was donated by the previous owners in 1986. April Flying For Good Featured Club

The Palm Beach Radio Control Association is our featured Flying For Good submission for April. Located in Boca Raton, FL, the club raised $10,500 for charity from November 2018 to April 2019. The club sponsored five fundraisers to benefit three local organizations as well as two national charities, Toys for Tots and The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The club’s local fundraising efforts benefited the Alexander “Sandy” Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home, Ziggy’s Haven Bird Sanctuary, and the Hepzibah House for victims of human trafficking. In addition to raising awareness for each charity, many events featured fun flys, food and beverages, and raffle prizes. The AMA Foundation wants to know how your club has given back to charity. Beresford Area Radio Flyers Receive Recognition and Reward Grant

The Beresford Aera Radio Flyers recently received an AMA club recognition and reward grant for $75. The club is located in Alcester, SD. The club recently donated $250 to The Beresford Area Transit/ROCS to help with their mission of providing transportation to local residents. The Beresford Area Transit has two vans and a 16 passenger bus that is equipped to handle wheelchairs. The transit normally has 20 to 25 trips per week. Funding for the Beresford Area Transit group comes from the fees, grants from the counties, grants from the city and from donations.

The club hosted their annual Larry Bowerman Memorial Air Show and Fun Fly event on July 28-29. Flying started at 9 a.m. and all RC equipment and models were welcome.

The club hosted their annual Larry Bowerman Memorial Air Show and Fun Fly event on July 28-29. Flying started at 9 a.m. and all RC equipment and models were welcome. Finger Lakes Air Pirates Receive AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant

The Finger Lakes Air Pirates recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward grant for $50. The club is located in Waterlook, NY. The club hosted their 2018 Open House/Fun Fly in September. The event was open to all clubs and the general public. Night flying was available for campers.

Last year, the club had to skip the event altogether due to the production of past Fun Fly events made it too much work for the small, casual club.

The club currently has around 17 members but the amount of members fluctuates for the 8-year old club. The club is also open to people who fly drones. The club has their very own flying instructor, Norm Crum. He doesn't charge for anyone interested in getting into radio control flying. The club even has their own "trainer" planes with controls that allow the trainer to take over if an inexperienced pilot has problems.
