On July 18, 2026, the Midwest Sundowners R/C Club hosted a Remembering Vets event. Club Vice President Lance Schubert provided the following report about the event:
"Our Remembering Vets event started off with a pilots meeting at 9:30 a.m., like usual. We had the pleasure of having the Valparaiso Civil Air Patrol perform a color guard ceremony at the beginning of the event. Just an idea ... should we play the national anthem at the beginning of all of our events? Let us know what you think.

"Our thanks go out to the 17 pilots who registered to fly or display their warbirds at this event.

"At this event, we were able to award a variety of pilot prizes. I only have a partial list of prize winners due to the unforeseen weather conditions that moved into the area about the time that we were awarding them:
- Rodney Peters—Hitec RDX-1 one port 200W charger and Land Air Sea T-Shirt
- Glenn Pazanin—G.Willikers 20-50cc Cradle Set
- Luke Jolitz—Hitec HS-645MG Hi-Torque Digital Servo (Set of 4) and Land Air Sea T-Shirt
- Ernie Nevlida—Various BSI CA Adhesives
- Rudi Hiebert—Various BSI Adhesives
- Jeff Horgash—Various BSI Adhesives
"Other pilots awarded prizes include Rich Prochut, Chris Fenik, Jeff Stollhans, Lance Schubert, Rafeek Beshder, David Hamilton, Ken Kaiser, Alex Kaiser, Matt Kaiser, and John York.

"In addition to pilot prizes, we also auctioned off a P-47, which Jim Hoover won with a winning bid of $160, and held a raffle for a 20cc P-51D Mustang ARF, which was won by Karen Peters. I'd be willing to bet Rodney Peters will get the full benefit of that win!

"Thank you, everyone, for a successful and fun day!"
