Dominic Adamo

Dominic joined the AMA and began flying model planes at his local club, Keystone Radio Control Club in Souderton, Pennsylvania, when he was four years old. He started off with the Eagle 2 trainer his dad learned on and progressed from using the buddy box to do a tumble or a stall turn here and there, through various intermediate planes including a F-22 Raptor, Twist, and Funtana 50, to learning 3D on a Funtana 90. During his middle school years he became an instructor at his club, helping out with instruction nights and assisting members at the field. This led to him being awarded the 2014 Modeller of the Year, being recognized for helping a lot of members in the club. In 2013, Dominic and his dad started competing in the International Miniature Aerobatics Club, or IMAC. He has traveled all around the Northeast Region to compete in this precision aerobatics sport, using giant scale airplanes including a Yak 54 and 120CC Aeroworks Extra 300. In the past five years he has competed, he has placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at 16 competitions and has been top 3 in the Northeast Region the last three years, ending the 2017 year in 2nd place in Advanced Class. More recently he has become interested in helicopters and drones, learning to fly his Trex-450 and Trex-700 with his IMAC flying buddy Doc Shen, and learning to fly FPV racing drones so that he will be able to join the racing drone team at the University of Maryland. Outside of flying, Dominic has always been heavily involved in music and science. He was part of Jazz band playing the drum set throughout high school, and heavily involved in science fairs, placing in 6 county science fairs and 3 state fairs. He was also deeply involved in studies with calculus, physics, and chemistry. Dominic will be attending the University of Maryland in the Fall to pursue Aerospace Engineering. He is very excited to begin his studies and plans on continuing the hobby by flying his TRex-450 and racing drone at college, and being part of the racing drone team.
