Dillon Graves

Dillon is a graduate of Titusville High School where he completed dual enrollment college/advanced placement classes. He enjoyed being a member of the German Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society (Sergeant in Arms) and was President of the National Honor Society. Dillon competed as a Varsity swim/diver on his high school team. He comes from an RC family as his grandfather is the founder of Graves RC hobbies in Orlando, FL and has also represented Graves RC in many local air shows, indoor competition flying aerobatic, and by flying 3D planes like his 111cc 35% Extra 300. At the age of 9, he was introduced to flying. Early in 2011, Dillon began his career as a sailplane pilot and was seen spending many weekends, school holidays, and after school practices with the guidance of his coaches Gordon Buckland and Jody Miller in order to become an accomplished pilot and teammate. Dillon, along with the support of his F3K coach Mickey Nowell, continues to practice hard and will be ready for the world contest in July. Dillon has accumulated many honors in the past six years including: Two time Junior National Champion F3J and unlimited Thermal Duration in 2011 and 2013, National Champion Open Class F3J Thermal Soaring 2013, Overall Florida Soaring Society Champion as an Expert in Unlimited 3rd 2012 and 1st in 2013 and Master in 2015, and first Sportsman Gator F3B World Cup 2013. In 2015, he competed on the USA F3K Team in Croatia where his team placed third and he placed first place to become the current Junior World Champion. Dillon left Croatia for the Netherlands the next day to compete as the junior on the USA F3B team, bringing home an overall 3rd Bronze medal. In the summer of 2017, Dillion will be traveling to Ukraine in an attempt to defend his world title, this time in the senior class. With the ending of his high school career, Dillon received several prestigious awards from his school and community including:Titusville High School Hall of Fame Leadership Award, Brevard County Top-Scholars awarded by NASA, and Brevard County Outstanding Young Adult recognition. Dillon will attend the University of Central Florida in the fall.
