Robbie van Zyl is a rising sophomore at Georgia Tech studying Mechanical Engineering. He has been tinkering with RC airplanes and drones since he was a young boy and has since found himself spending every last minute of his free time building, designing, and making everything from big balsa gliders to 80 mph racing drones. Recently, he has been building a couple of racing quads to compete in local MultiGP races and working on his prized possession, a Great Planes Extra 300sp. Robbie has been an AMA member since the very beginning of his RC days and is honored to be part of such an amazing, inspirational organization and to earn this prestigious AMA scholarship. The AMA has inspired him to study engineering and share his passion for engineering and RC with others in his community, just as one of his inspirational AMA mentors introduced him.
