On September 9, 2026, the AMA Foundation kicked off the year-end giving season by giving a gift of its own to a prominent community resource: the YWCA of Central Indiana. Founded in 1911, in Muncie, Indiana, the YWCA works to eliminate racism, empower women, promote social justice, help families, and strengthen the community it serves. The YWCA provides a multitude of services to individuals in our community, including emergency shelter for women and children; education in financial literacy, housing, and professional development; facility rental space; a resale shop; and so much more!
For several years, the AMA Foundation has been making an active effort to grow its impact on and involvement in the local Muncie community. One of the ways that this has been done is by forging and strengthening relationships with other nonprofits in the area, to include the YWCA of Central Indiana! The AMA Foundation was thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the YWCA's community impact by donating lightly used televisions to the local organization for use in a wide variety of their programming and facilities.
In addition to this donation of televisions, AMA Foundation staff will be returning to the YWCA of Central Indiana to teach those serviced by the organization all about the joy of flight! One of the YWCA's offered facilities is a full-size gymnasium, which AMA Foundation staff plan on taking advantage of to demonstrate indoor flying. AMA Foundation Executive Director Steve Haston stated that, "if learning to fly can help even one of these young women, I will count it as a success."
The AMA Foundation is looking forward to continuing to grow and strengthen its relationship with the YWCA of Central Indiana.
