The application period for the 2024 Flying Site Improvement Grant and Take off And Grow (TAG) grant have ended. The next phase for the grant program is the judging, which begins March 1.
More than 100 clubs applied for Flying Site Improvement Grants in this round, and approximately 25 clubs applied for TAG grants. Clubs selected to receive the Flying Site Improvement Grants will use the funds for various improvements including replacing roofing, erecting shelters, adding Geotextile runways, building pilot stands, improving drainage, and making their sites more welcoming to the public. A handful of clubs that have lost their flying sites plan to use the money to purchase land. Clubs can use the TAG funds to host events to introduce their local communities to the hobby.
A group of judges will have until roughly March 31 to review the grant applications. The list of recipients will be presented to the AMA Executive Council for final approval at its April 27, 2024, meeting. The names of the clubs that will be awarded these grants will be announced shortly thereafter around the beginning of May.
