Mary Luby was nominated by her husband, Jim Luby. Jim shared the following sentiment about Mary and her support:

"My bride Mary has been my copilot for over 45 years!  When we were dating, Mary would come out to the flying field and watch me fly.

She always helps me by keeping a sharp eye at others flying, announcing that I was taking off, landing, and even the occasional dead stick! In recent years, Mary has become more involved in our hobby by designing graphics for my airplanes. She would come up with style and design ideas that she thought would stand out at the flying field and be fun to watch fly. The photo I'm providing is just one of her designs of my scratch-built Robelen Pronto.

This design won the Vintage Radio Control Society Theme Plan award, as well as a Pilot's Choice award at 2025 Vintage RC Society events! Besides designs, she literally sits with me when I'm building and asking questions, and the most important thing to me is that she makes suggestions for improvements. I've implemented many of her ideas in my builds. Finally, when I've helped others to fly (adult or young child), she speaks to them after flying to offer encouragement. I am happy to say that this season, she will fully dedicate the time to learn how to fly with her new Aeroscout!

Personally, I enjoy our hobby even more when she is by my side...my copilot for life!"
