Lanny Hansen

Lanny Hansen was nominated by his friend, Joseph Pirozzoli. Joseph shared the following sentiment about Lanny:

"Lanny has been a significant contributing member of the Arvada Associated Modelers Club (#0399) for over 45 years. At 78, he is still a very active RC pilot and aerobatics competitor. You can find Lanny at the field practicing pattern or flying his other planes near every single day, all year long. He is a prolific and very skilled builder of many types of planes. He has built and flown nearly every type or genre of plane this hobby has to offer. He even designed an extremely competitive fun-fly airplane called the "Krazy," based on the SIG Mark II wing, which has been copied and emulated by many other members and modelers. Along the way Lanny has been a Club officer (numerous times), instructor and generous supporter of the club.

He has never failed to participate in a work party or club project, no matter what it is, and is our "go-to mechanic" for all our mechanical or equipment needs. He is always the first person to volunteer and never expects recognition for his contributions. He is a great grandfather, a veteran, and was awarded a purple heart during the Vietnam war. He served our country with great distinction. He also happens to be the club’s longest standing member at just over 45 years. It has been my great honor to know Lanny since I joined the club 42 years ago and I consider him one of my closest and most loyal friends."
