My interest in all things aviation was sparked by my dad. Dad served in the USMCR and was an aircraft mechanic/crew chief with VMF-351, a training squadron of F4-U Corsairs, based at NAS Atlanta in the early 1950s.

So, when I was growing up, dad would fascinate me with his own airplane stories and take me to local airshows. We both loved warbirds! Also, dad introduced me to building plastic model planes and from there, my interest grew to include RC planes.

Not until my adult years after raising my own kids did I begin to have time for more involvement in RC. I now live in Newnan, Georgia, where a friend introduced me to an awesome local RC club ... the Fayette Flyers.

It's a great bunch of folks and the club stays very active with regular meetings, "fun flys," and putting on the popular annual SEFF event in south Georgia. I've been a club and AMA member for several years now and have grown as an RC pilot, thanks to the help of club members far more skilled than myself. I love the AMA magazine, Model Aviation, and enjoy building, flying, and volunteering with the SEFF event.

My RC hobby is a true joy ... and it keeps a lot of sweet aviation memories of my dad fresh in my heart.
