Ralph Potter Biography

-A A +A

I started out as a young boy getting a plastic jet-type Control Line model with the popular Wen Mec .049 engine. I don't think I ever flew it much. I went on to building other Control Line models. Sterling Models were making kits, and then I went into Free Flight with a Mini Mabo launched with a Cox .049 baby bee engine. I launched it and never saw it again, as it flew off high in the sky.

Later, it was Carl Goldberg's Falcon 56, then ugly sticks, and then Clancy Lazy Bees, the most fun I have ever had with a plane that flew longer until it got crashed. Today, I'm 75 years old. I got my cataracts fixed, so I'm going to fly again. I have an old ugly stick with a glow motor on it waiting to find the time to fly. Aging with 2 grandkids and babysitting doesn't allow much time for flying. That's my story. It's a fun hobby, maybe I will be around to get Gaberial turing 5 in few days to learn to fly and build models!
