Older man with glasses, wearing a green shirt, against a blurred green background.

I started modeling and flying Control Line back in about 1960. I grew up on a farm and used an old chicken coop as my workshop. Ambroid glue, balsa shavings and dust, and butyrate dope all must have gotten into my bloodstream.

Through the years, I advanced into Radio Control with a World Engines radio and a membership in the AMA. I got married and had to drift away from hobbies for a while. I don't recall my original AMA number. I rejoined again later on with 140408 and have had it ever since. I was a member of the Red River R/C Flyers (RRRCF) AMA Club 490 back in the 70s. Also, the Davenport R/C Society AMA Club 1458 while in college in the 80s. The RRRCF went dormant for about 25 years and is now in very competent hands and back to life with a whole new flying field and highly ranked flyers. I don't fly much other than a camera drone these days at age 72, but my heart is in it. It's exciting to see all of the new technology! I still may finish some of my kits! :)
