My addiction started early as is the case most often. My great uncle brought me to the duluth rc flying club when I was about 7-8 and I watched him fly his plane he built in his garage. Not sure what it was exactly, it was shiny yellow, electric, and the wing was held on by rubber bands. I remember thinking that was crazy, but they still do it. I also remember it took most of the day to charge the brick of a battery he got 2:30 minutes of flight time on. Since then I was fascinated by the hobby.
As a kid we didn't have the kind of extra money it takes to get into the hobby grade rc's. So in my 20's I bought my first rc plane, a dynam pby-catalina float plane since my parents lived on a lake i could fly it at. I crashed it, I fixed, I crashed and I fixed. As time went on I got better and I bought different planes. I collected planes for awhile too scared to fly them and then that rc club my great uncle took me to installed a mat runway and that meant I could fly more of the planes I had accumulated. So I signed up at the club and with the AMA and went flying. I was a little nervous at first but the guys at the field were friendly and helpful and I've improved my flying skills a lot since I've joined. I now mostly like to fly 90mm edf jets and bigger warbirds. I dont see myself going to rehab any time soon.
