My name is Joseph Quezada, and I’m originally from Ecuador. I’m 23 years old and moved to the United States three years ago to pursue my dream of becoming an airline pilot. I began my pilot training in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and later enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where I am now a junior in the Aeronautics program.

Beyond my professional aviation goals, I am passionate about the RC hobby. I fly everything from small trainers to large turbine jets, and I spend most of my free time thinking about and flying RC airplanes. I’m proud to support my local RC community as a trainer pilot for the Deland Golden Hawks club in Florida, helping new pilots get started in the hobby.

I’m also an active competition pilot. In 2024, I represented my university at the DBF (Design, Build, Fly) competition in Wichita, Kansas. In 2025, I traveled to Tucson, Arizona, where I had the unique opportunity to fly for seven different universities from around the world including teams from the United States, Colombia, Singapore, and Mexico helping schools that needed a pilot. Looking ahead, I hope to continue supporting other universities at future DBF competitions, whether I am flying for my own team or lending a hand to others.

The RC hobby has given me incredible experiences, friendships, and opportunities to share my love of aviation with others, and I’m excited to keep inspiring and supporting the RC community wherever I can.
