Joe Matucheski Biography

-A A +A

I grew up in western Pennsylvania and was always interested in air and spacecraft. I started building model airplanes at 12 and got into RC at 14.

I was always glued to the TV following the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs during the '60s. Got my private pilot's license at age 17. I went to Purdue and graduated in 1974 with a BS degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering.

I spent the majority of my career at Allison Engine, now Rolls-Royce, in Indianapolis. I still try to participate in RC with the Screaming Eagles club in Plainfield, Indiana.

I participated in engine programs for the E2 Hawkeye, V-22 Osprey, and F-35 Liftfan programs at Allison/Rolls. I retired 7 years ago and am working on getting three grandsons up to speed with flying RC. They are a little too young for that now but we are working on it.
