Harold Hearon Biography

-A A +A
Senior man with white beard and glasses, wearing a white T-shirt, sitting indoors.

Started going to watch my dad fly C/L in the late 40s (still have a P6E Hawk he built in 1942, the year I was born). Started flying C/L at about 8 or 9, just sport flying. Dad flew F/F in a few contests, but I never got into the competition phase of the hobby.

In the late 60s/early 70s, we had a 4-H club, the "PROP BUSTERS," for about 10 years. After that, I think in the mid 70s, I started in R/C and joined AMA when we started our AMA club, Cape May County W.A.S.P Inc. in the South Jersey area. I was the first president for 8 years, then took a break for a few years before again serving as president for another 6 years.

Since then, I have been vice president until this time. AMA is a great organization, bar none. I am 84 now and still flying (WHEN IT IS WARM lol). It has been a great ride, and I hope it goes a few more years. Hope when I take my last flight, the P6E will go to AMA Headquarters and be in the National Model Aviation Museum, as it is still flyable, of which I will not do.
