I started building models at age 10 in 1967. After 4 years of building and not having much luck getting them to fly correctly, I found a local club. I wrote to the president of that club, and he responded back. At the time, he was the president of the SCIFS, an old-time Free Flight club, and for the next 2 years, I would ride my bike over to his house and he would teach me how to build correctly.

I have been building models nonstop and have built over 300 models, and there is no end in sight. I build mostly Free Flight models, but I do build and fly U-Control and radio control models also. I build almost every single day, and my favorite models to build are Old Timers, such as TEXACO and 1/2A TEXACO models. I was a member of the SCIFS since age 14, until the club closed a couple years ago. I worked as an aircraft mechanic (Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic and an IA Inspection Authorization) for 45 years.
