January Flying For Good Featured Club

The Flying For Good featured January submission is The Rogue Eagles RC Club. The club is located in Medford, OR. The 39th annual Rogue Eagles Air Show was a two day event that started on Aug. 25, 2017. The club donated 100 percent of the money raised to Asante's Children's Miracle Network.

 

The Flying For Good featured January submission is The Rogue Eagles RC Club. The club is located in Medford, OR. The 39th annual Rogue Eagles Air Show was a two day event that started on Aug. 25, 2017. The club donated 100 percent of the money raised to Asante's Children's Miracle Network. Admission was free for the event but the club asked visitors to consider donating $5.  At the event, there was a raffle for fine-art prints and remote-control aircraft's. Spectators were also able to test fly a remote-control flight simulator aircraft. There were 26 different flight acts that were presented along the club's runway. The club used this event to promote their club and model aviation and give back to the community. The club ended the show with a candy drop for the kids. The club raised $1,242.36 for the Children's Miracle Network. The AMA Foundation would like to thank the Rogue Eagles RC Club for their hard work and dedication to raising money for a good charity. Central Connecticut RC Club Receives an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant

The Central Connecticut RC Club recently received an AMA club recognition and reward grant for $75. The club is located in Farmington, CT. The members of the club attended a drive and fly-in at a local airport. The event the club attended was the 32nd annual Simsbury Fly-In and Car Show. This event attracts around 15,000 spectators, and it has about 150 businesses as sponsors, advertisers, and exhibitors.The annual show was hosted by the Simsbury Flying Club, and proceeds from the event helped keep the Simsbury Airport in operation.

 

The Central Connecticut RC Club recently received an AMA club recognition and reward grant for $75. The club is located in Farmington, CT. The fly in and car show featured hundreds of airplanes and cars that could be seen up close. The airplanes ranged from antiques dating back to the 1920's, to homebuilts, helicopters, small former military aircraft, and brand new models on display by dealers. Northeastern Drone Society Receives an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant

The Northeastern Drone Society has received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in Coventry, CT. The club was featured on Charter Community Access Tv. The segment has Richard Pierce, President and Donald MacDougall, Club Safety Officer featured. In this segment, they inform the watchers about Drones and the safety and regulations that go along with them. The club is a member of the AMA which helps regulate the rules and guidelines to go along with flying.

Sequin RC Aeronauts Club and Olympic RC Modelers Receive AMA Recognition and Reward Grant

The Sequin RC Aeronauts Club and the Olympic RC Modelers received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward. The Sequin RC Aeronauts received $75. The Olympic RC Modelers received $125. The clubs are both located in Washington.  The clubs hosted their 7th annual Fun Fly-in Fundraiser for Hospice on August 26-27. The event is a family-oriented event that includes demonstration flights, static displays of aircraft and raffle drawings for prizes. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it was five dollars per car load. All AMA Pilots were welcomed with a $10 donation landing fee.

The activities at the event included Balloon rides, remote controlled plane demonstrations and a “Wings and Wheels” car show. Each year, one hundred percent of the proceeds go to volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. The mission of the Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is to provide free around-the-clock registered nursing availability to terminally ill patients. At the end of the event, the clubs donated $4,174 to Hospice. Also, both clubs were featured in the “Peninsula Daily News”. North Country Flying Tigers Receive AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant

The North Country Flying Tigers located in Saratoga Springs, NY, received an AMA club recognition reward for $175. Bob Lippman, President of the North Country Flying Tigers, was featured on Look TV to promote their 9th Annual Fun Fly Air Show. The event was held on July 9. Each year, the club holds a fundraiser for a charity. This year, the club had a silent auction and all the proceeds went to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Lima Area Radio Kontrol Society Receives Club Recognition and Reward Grant

The Lima Area Radio Kontrol Society (L.A.R.K.S) received an AMA club recognition reward for $175. The club held their 19th Annual Big Bird Fly-In on July, 22 which was their last event of the summer. The event was free to the public which allowed the opportunity for the public to get an up close and personal look at the hobby of RC flying. The fly-in included a combination of local and regional pilots that performed straight-winged, bi-planes, jets, quad-copters and helicopters throughout the event. The event was covered in the local newspaper, “Lima News”.

Atoms RC Club Receive Club Recognition Award

The Atoms RC Club located in Hillsborough, NJ recently received an AMA Club Recognition Reward for $175. The club hosted their annual Swap Meet in the winter. Each year, the club gives a portion of proceeds to an organization. This year, the club donated $300 to their local food bank in Hillsborough. The club was featured in the Hillsborough Township Local access television station. This station is mentioned in the Mayor's newsletter that is sent out to approximately 40,000 residents.

The Fluvanna County R/C Flying Club receive Club Recognition Award

The Fluvanna County R/C Flying Club, located in Fork Union, VA, recently received an AMA Club Recognition Reward for $175. On June 10, the club hosted “Wings and Wheels 4 Paws”. The event drew a crowd of about 500 people and raised approximately $5,000 for animal rescue organizations in their area. The event had 49 cars registered in a car show and 22 radio-control pilots. There were also two canine agility demonstrations at the event that were provided by Ruff Agility. The club was featured in the local newspaper “Rural Virginian”.

 

The Fluvanna County R/C Flying Club, located in Fork Union, VA, recently received an AMA Club Recognition Reward for $175. On June 10, the club hosted “Wings and Wheels 4 Paws”. Casa Grande RC Flyers is an Arizona nonprofit corporation that raises money for local charities. Membership is open to anyone wanting fly or learn to fly radio-controlled aircraft. They also offer free lessons taught by any of nine AMA certified instructors. The club has about 156 members that include local residents and winter residents.

Beresford Area Radio Flyers Receive Club Recognition Reward and Grant

The Beresford Area Radio Flyers has recently been awarded with a $50 Club Recognition and Reward Grant. Beresford Area Radio flyers were featured in the Sioux Center News for hosting a 25th annual model airplane show at Centre Mall in Sioux. Hobbyist came from Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa to see about 40 planes on display.
