The Southern Air RC Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $50. The Southern Air RC Club located in Vanceboro, NC, hosted half a dozen Cub Scout's from New Bern’s Centenary Church on July 21 to teach them how to fly at their flying field. The club gave the kids ground school, flight instruction and some time on a flight simulator. The cub scouts were able to handle the flight controls and make the airplanes fly. Kids often learn aerodynamics and maintenance from these exercises. The cub scouts got a break from flying around noon which included hot dogs and chips. Also, the boys were given balsa gliders of their own to take home. The Southern Air RC Club works with any youth group for free.
