Jeff Baker Biography

-A A +A

Model aviation has been one of the greatest hobbies in my life. I had the opportunity to get involved with model aircraft back in 1969 from my Dad. I started building with my Dad's guidance, Free Flight gas models, as well as tow-line gliders. Built many TOP KICK tow-line gliders and A-class Miss America cabin gas models. We flew with the "then" SAM 1 club here in Colorado. My Dad was the driving force in my Free Flight gas and later rubber models.

With my Dad's help, I had the opportunity to compete in the 1995 SAM champs in Colorado Springs. What an experience. Modelers form all over the country and a few from overseas attended. I'll never forget it. A few years later, I started building and flying RC aircraft.

Many years have gone by with new designs and developing my abilities. Now I'm flying Gliders, Control Line, Scale RC aircraft, and off and on I try to fly rotor craft. I haven't quite got that down. Over the past few years, I'm finding myself hanging on to the RC vintage and anything called a Glider I'll build and fly. I enjoy park flyers and my old trusty 2-meter gliders that I take up to the front range here in Colorado and give er a toss.

I've never stopped building and flying thanks to my Dad. He gave me the basics of building, covering, and trimming every model until the day I lost him 18 years ago. He was a retired Naval Aviator and had the pasion for anything that flew. I owe my Dad for my continued experience and his leadership.

Model aviation is a great hobby with great people and can lead into many opportunities. I thank you, Dad, the Old local SAM club, and the AMA for the continued support as the years move forward.

Good flying,
