The AMA Foundation is happy to offer several different scholarships each year. Nearly $40,000 is made available for the AMA Foundation Scholarship Program, and qualified students are eligible to receive up to $15,000 in financial aid for the academic year! The application portal can be found here.
Read below to learn more about each available AMA Foundation scholarship:
The Cliff & Nancy Telford Scholarship award is given annually to the individual with the best competitive record, based on participation in activities within AMA and FAI classifications. All students, both graduating high school seniors and currently enrolled post-secondary students, are invited to apply.
This scholarship award is valued at $5,000.
The Planesmen Aerospace Engineering Degree Scholarship is given to an applicant graduating from high school in the year in which the award is granted or an applicant currently enrolled at an accredited university attending a school of engineering.
This scholarship is valued at $5,000.
The Planesmen Aircraft Technician/Maintenance Program (ATP/AMP) Scholarship is granted to an applicant attending an accredited ATP/AMP school. The applicant must be seeking education in ATP/AMP, Airframe and Powerplant, or Avionics Technician.
This scholarship is valued at $2,500.
The Ryan M. Sherrow Memorial Scholarship is based on a graduating high school senior's overall involvement in the hobby of model aviation.
This scholarship is valued at $500 and is only available for graduating high school seniors.
The Charles H. Grant Scholarship is awarded based on several important criteria. All facets of an application's background are taken into consideration. A well-rounded applicant may be more qualified than one who excels only in one aspect. This scholarship is awarded to multiple applicants annually.
This scholarship is valued at $500-$8,000 and is only available to graduating high school seniors.
The Basil & Dorothy Cooper Memorial Scholarship is given annually to an individual applicant.
This scholarship is valued at $500 and is only available to currently enrolled post-secondary students.
Basic criteria for scholarship eligibility include:
- An up-to-date AMA membership for the past 36 months
- Active participation in your community outside of model aviation
- A strong academic record
- A current status of graduating high school senior or currently enrolled post-secondary student
