Tyler was born in Derry, New Hampshire, and is the son of Scott and Mary McCormack. He resides in Sandown, New Hampshire, along with his three siblings and parents. He was home-schooled up until high school, when he started attending Virtual Learning Academy Charter School. This allowed Tyler to fully comprehend every subject he took and required him to self-motivate and have great discipline to learn the content of each course taken. He graduated in the spring of 2016 with a 3.99 GPA. In the fall of 2016, Tyler will be attending Northern Essex Community College with plans to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program in computer sciences/engineering in 2018. Tyler was introduced to aeromodeling in 2008 at 10 years old through his local club’s AMA Take-off-And-Grow (TAG) program. During the next few months (with a couple of models), Tyler and his younger brother became proficient through the club’s training program thanks to the dedication of its members. Soon after, Tyler became a club instructor and trained more than 20 students in the following three years. Tyler feels that this activity has taught him the most about models, and is the most gratifying. Although he has yet to build a full kit model, he has built and set up many ARF models, including a glow fuel-powered trainer and sport models, electric aircraft, Giant Scale gas models, and has designed and built dozens of foamies. Tyler’s passion is RC Scale Aerobatics/Freestyle and has been since 2010 when he built and flew his first Giant Scale model. He has been flying these aircraft as a member of the International Miniature Aerobatic Club (IMAC) for the past six seasons, starting at the Basic level and working up to Unlimited in which he currently competes. Tyler has participated in approximately 30 IMAC and 20 Freestyle sanctioned events since 2010, culminating 40 wins at various levels. He has also participated in two RC Scale Aerobatics Nats, as well as the inaugural IMAC World Championship. At the Nats, Tyler placed third in Advanced and first in Freestyle in 2013. In 2015, he placed second in Unlimited and first in Freestyle. In the 2014 IMAC Worlds, he placed first in Advanced class and second in Freestyle. Tyler has attended more than 100 fun-fly events, air shows, and 3-D events throughout the years including an annual trip to Joe Nall Week and the International Aeromodeling Center. In the past eight years, fellow modelers have guided Tyler’s interests and helped him to develop as a person, for which he could not be more grateful. Tyler plans on being devoted to this hobby for years to come and hopes to one day become a mentor to someone, as so many have done for him.
