Trevor Burke

Trevor Burke graduated from St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas, Texas.  He will attend Southern Methodist University this fall as a Hunt Leadership Scholar and member of the University Honors Program, and intends to double major in Mechanical Engineering and Physics.  He also plays the tuba in the SMU Mustang Marching Band. An Eagle Scout with 23 Palms (the highest rank combination a Scout can attain), Trevor has earned all 139 merit badges, the Hornaday Silver Medal and both STEM Supernova Medals: the Dr. Bernard Harris Supernova Bronze Award and the Thomas Edison Silver Supernova Award.  He also served as a member of the BSA Delegation to present the Annual Report to the Nation to the President of the United States, Congress and other key officials in Washington, D.C. In recognition of his environmental efforts, Trevor received the 2019 President’s Environmental Protection Award and will be honored in a Ceremony in Washington, D.C. on July 25, 2019.  He is also the recipient of the 2018 SeaWorld Busch Gardens Environmental Excellence Award, the Future Man of Action Award by the Southwest Jewish Congress and was named a Distinguished Texas Finalist for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award.  He has given a TEDx Talk about his conservation efforts and was also featured in Wildflower Magazine.  He has earned, for the past four years, the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award for volunteering more than 250+ hours over a 12-month period.  And, he was recently named the 2019 Texas Eagle Scout of the Year by both the American Legion and the Sons of the American Revolution. A 2018 delegate at Texas Boys State, Trevor participates at St. Mark’s in band, fencing, and as Captain of both the Robotics and Rocketry clubs.  He just concluded his year of service as President of the Texas Society of the Children of the American Revolution, the oldest patriotic youth organization in the United States.  His summer internships have included working at NASA (where he hopes to work permanently!), the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. In his spare time, Trevor enjoys playing the saxophone, participating in science-related activities, flying model airplanes, and hanging out with his four siblings.
