Benjamin Mills is the son of James and Beth Mills of Ozark, Missouri. Benjamin graduated with honors amidst the COVID-19 quarantine in 2020. Ben was diagnosed with autism at an early age. The challenges from this diagnosis helped Ben develop a persistent determination to overcome many challenges to achieve his goals. While attending high school Benjamin was dedicated to achieving his high school goals completing honors classes and A+ tutoring while preparing for college. Benjamin was a four year member of the Ozark High School Track team, Cross Country team, and the Army Junior Officer Training program. A highlight of his Cross Country career was being voted “Mr. Cross Country” as a senior. Ben was also active with his church youth group participating in various group activities. Ben first flew a control line airplane with his Dad’s assistance at age 4. He has progressed from beginning with ½ A, 40 size IC, and currently 60 size electric powered aircraft. Ben is a past Beginner National Champion, Junior National Champion, and Senior National Champion. He has also competed at the Team Trials and is currently the second alternate for the world team. He enjoys the competition and fellowship that comes with the sport. After graduation, Ben will be attending Ozark Technical College and then transferring to Missouri State University to pursue a degree in History and Special Education. After college, he plans to be a History teacher and coach cross country.
