For the last several months, the Academy of Model Aeronautics Foundation has been working on a brand-new grant opportunity and we are excited to share it with you!
Thank you to the Mid Coast Radio Control Club for providing a photo of their AED. The Mid Coast Radio Control Club is a recipient of the 2023 Flying Site Improvement Grant.
The Save A Life Grant was created to help promote safer and more medically equipped flying sites. This grant is designed to reimburse clubs for 25% (up to $200) of the cost of a recently purchased Automated External Defibrillator (AED). AEDs, which are easy to use, can be critical when helping someone who is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
Awards for the Save A Life Grant are based on a first-come, first-served basis. When the allotted budget for the year is reached, awards will be discontinued for the year. Clubs can be awarded a maximum of $200 per year and are able to apply more than once if they have not yet reached the yearly maximum.
The Save A Life Grant will officially open June 1. To find out more information and view the eligibility requirements, please visit our website HERE.
Along with the this new grant, we have made a few changes to our already existing programs that we would like to make you aware of:
Flying Site Improvement Grant:
- With the launch of the new Save A Life Grant, the Flying Site Improvement Grant will no longer accept applications for AEDs. Future applications that include an AED will be directed to remove it from their project.
- Any receipts included in an application for a Flying Site Improvement Grant must only include materials for the project(s) included in the project description. Any receipts with personal items will not be allowed for submission, which will alter the amount that a club can request.
These changes will take effect this fall when the grant reopens. To read more about the Flying Site Improvement Grant, visit our website HERE.
Club Recognition and Reward Grant:
- The Club Recognition and Reward Grant has officially moved to an online application. This allows for a quicker process in receiving, reviewing, and distributing funds to applicants. Paper applications will no longer be accepted and if one is received, clubs will be contacted and direct to apply online.
