Since Amazon announced that its AmazonSmile program was ending earlier this year, the AMA Foundation team has been looking for ways to replace the lost additional revenue. The team learned in August 2023 that the AMA Foundation was accepted into the Kroger Community Rewards program, which will help recoup some of the quarterly donations.
The Kroger Community Rewards program is used at Kroger-owned stores across the country. This means that each time you shop for groceries at one of those stores, you could be donating to the AMA Foundation! Not all Kroger-owned stores participate in the program. The AMA Foundation team has sent out several applications for the program and is waiting to find out where we have been approved. This post will be updated as more stores agree to honor this program.
Kroger-owned stores are located in 38 states, and we hope to have participating stores in each state. As of September 12, 2023, Kroger, Payless, and Jay C stores in Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois are participating. To earn Community Rewards while shopping at these stores, use either of these codes or names: Academy of Model Aeronautics Foundation or the code EB301, or The Academy of Model Aeronautics or code XP749.
The AMA Foundation was also approved for Food4Less and Foods Co. stores in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. If you shop at one of these stores, search for "AMA Foundation" or code LW073.
You can enroll in the program with one of Kroger's apps or through its website at http://www.kroger.com, if you shop at a Kroger or Payless. If you shop at Food4Less, enroll here. Likewise, if you shop at Foods Co., go here.
To enroll through the Kroger website, simply select "sign in" at the top right corner of your screen. This button has a dropdown menu that allows you to either sign into your existing Kroger account or easily create one. Making a new account will require you to enter some basic information and your Kroger rewards card number. If you do not have a Kroger rewards card (or another rewards card for one of the grocery stores owned by Kroger), you can obtain one at the service desk at your closest grocery store.
After you have logged in, search for the name or code then click enroll. You must complete this step for your rewards card to start donating to the AMA Foundation.
If you have an app for one of Kroger's grocery stores, you can choose to set up the AMA Foundation as your charity of choice through it. In Muncie, Indiana, where AMA Headquarters is located, there are two Payless grocery stores.
On the home screen of the Payless app, for instance, you might find three horizontal lines in the upper right corner that can take you to your profile, if you are logged into the app. If you click on those lines, the app will take you to this screen.
Next, click on Rewards and it will take you to this screen:
Next, click on community rewards. This will take you to the following screen, where you will search for Academy of Model Aeronautics Foundation or EB301.
Select enroll, and you should see a screen similar to this:
Please note that you are only allowed to support one organization at a time. You must swipe your rewards card each time that you shop in order for a portion of what you spend to go to the AMA Foundation. Within 10 days of signing up, the bottom of your receipt should state how much you have given to the AMA Foundation.
The Foundation will receive a quarterly donations.
Thank you for signing up to support AMA at no extra cost to you, while purchasing the groceries that you need!
If you need help signing up, please contact the AMA Foundation staff.
