The Sky Kings R/C Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in Webb City, MO. The club was recognized in their local paper and television. First time flyers, The Flying Pigs, deconstructed and built a plane for a high school physics project. The Rock River Aero Modelers Society recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in Janesville, WI. Club secretary and treasurer, Larry Nitz, was invited to give a presentation about their club to the Janesville Noon Rotary Club. The presentation took place on April 15 and there were 50-60 community leaders at the luncheon. The Casa Grande RC Flyers were named a “Gold Level Leader Club” for the third year in a row. The club is one of 151 clubs out of over 2,400 clubs to receive this title. The club was recognized in their local paper. The club is largely supported by the city, local businesses and the community. The Lewes RC Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $175. The club is located in Lewes, DE. The club was featured on WBOC, a local TV station. The Tampa Radio Control Aircraft Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward Grant for $150. The club is located in Seffner, FL. The club’s airfield is the Hillsborough Heights Solid Waste Facility. The open space is a closed landfill which makes it the perfect place to take flight. The club pays $10 a year to use the space to fly. It is a benefit to the county because they maintain the 13 acres of land which saves the county money. The Beresford Aera Radio Flyers recently received an AMA club recognition and reward grant for $75. The club is located in Alcester, SD. The club recently donated $250 to The Beresford Area Transit/ROCS to help with their mission of providing transportation to local residents. The Beresford Area Transit has two vans and a 16 passenger bus that is equipped to handle wheelchairs. The transit normally has 20 to 25 trips per week. The Casa Grande RC Flyers have added new events to their calendar. The club is located in Casa Grande, AZ. Every Thursday throughout the winter months, the club will hold airplane dog flights, also called “combat flights”.  These events give members a chance to increase their skills. The Sunday Flyers recently received an AMA Club recognition and reward grant for $150. The club is located in Middle River, MD. The club was featured on episode 3101 of “Outdoors Maryland”. The club was established in 1955 and is chartered with the AMA for flying fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. The Sunday Flyers currently have 90 members but have had up to 160 members of all ages. The Heart of Texas Miniature Aircraft Club recently received an AMA Club Recognition and Reward grant for $75. The club hosted their 36th Annual Greater Southwest Jet Rally on September 6, 2018. The jet rally ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m and was free to the public but donations were accepted to fund a Texas State Technical College aviation scholarship. The Casa Grande Flyers will hold an event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at their club airfield on 2725 S. Isom road in Casa Grande. The event will benefit the Hospice Charitable Fund of Central Arizona and is open to the public. The club will offer free flying lessons using an instructor’s model aircraft, free first-person view airplane rides, a swap meet featuring many radio-controlled hobby items, and food service for both breakfast and lunch.
